Students who travel more than 100 km one-way within Japan for the following purposes are eligible for a discount on JR and other rail fares with a Student Discount Certificate (Gakuwari-sho). Research students, auditing students, and non-degree students are not eligible for this discount.
Student Discount Certificates are issued by using the Automatic Certificate Machine (ACM), which can issue up to 5 certificates per day.

• Students extracurricular activities.
• Job hunting or entrance exam
• Returning home for vacation or any reason
• Special activity of education permitted by university or physical education and cultural activity
• Going to hospital or solving obstacle of study
