In collaboration with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Hokkaido University accepts excellent international students from developing countries and provides them with the opportunity to conduct specialized research in degree programs (master's and doctoral) while receiving support such as scholarships from JICA. Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) 

・ Monbukagakusho Honors Scholarship for Privately-Financed International Students

This scholarship (48,000yen/month) is open to students who are planning to enroll in undergraduate course with the score of the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU) or students who are planning to enroll in a graduate school that has an pre-arrival Admission system.  Applicants who wish to receive under the EJU score must submit the "Reservation Notice for the Monbukagakusho Honors Scholarship for Privately-Financed International Students" to the scholarship office at the university (scholarship AT prior to enrollment, in accordance with the instructions of JASSO. Those who wish to receive the scholarship under the Pre-Arrival Admission system should contact the academic affairs office of the graduate school they wish to enter in advance.

Monthly scholarship: 48,000 yen per month
