Chairman of the Hokkaido University International Hokkiado University Supporter's Organization
Aya Takahashi, Executive Vice President, Hokkaido University

To all supporters and donors

Since its launch in April 2003, the Hokkaido University International Hokkiado University Supporter's Organization has provided various forms of support, including housing assistance, for 22 years, with the aim of creating an environment in which international students can study and live with peace of mind. During this time, your generous support has enabled many international students to study with peace of mind and enjoy a fulfilling student life. We would like to express our sincere gratitude.

In the 22 years since the Support Group was established, the systems and environment surrounding international students have changed significantly, and as a result, the way in which the university provides support has also been called for a review. Amid these changes, the university's joint housing guarantee gradually shifted to tenants taking out their own housing insurance, and at the end of 2021, all international students who had been eligible for joint guarantee support for moving into rental housing left the university due to graduation or other reasons, and support from this project came to an end.

Therefore, at the 2024 board meeting, we considered the future direction of support for international students, and first reviewed the composition of the board in order to transform the support system into a more practical and flexible one.

Next, at the 2025 board meeting, we will review the support provided by the support group, ending support that has completed its role, and planning new support (proposals) to add to our existing activities.
